The B3GNT6 protein is responsible for the formation of the core 3 structure of O-glycans, which are important components of mucin-type glycoproteins. This process is known as the protein O-GlcNAcylation modifcation. B3GNT6 expression has been reported to be largely downregulated in gastric and colorectal cancers. B3GNT6 has 3 isoforms with the molecular mass of 29 and 43 kDa.
