ADAM8, one of the members of the ADAM family, is overexpressed in various human tumors. It has been shown previously that hypoxia influences the expression of some ADAM proteins. The protein found to be expressed in two active forms(90 kDa and 60 kDa): potential shedding protein and remnant protein in the pancreatic tissues under chronic pancreatitis and pancreatic cancer(PMID:18566576). The full length protein has a signal peptide and four glycosylation sites. This antibody is specific to ADAM8.
