DSCR3 is a component of the commander complex that is essential for endosomal recycling of transmembrane cargos; the commander complex is composed of the CCC subcomplex and the retriever subcomplex (PMID: 31845315). DSCR3 specifically facilitates the transport of LRP1, but not of LDLR, from the endosomes to the plasma membrane, and hereby controls postprandial TG levels in plasma (PMID: 36353989, 35187626).
