NLRP7 has been reported to emerge from NLRP2 gene. Similar to all inflammasomes, NLRP7 contributes to both pro- and an anti-inflammatory processes, depending on whether it functions in an inflammasome-dependent or independent pathway. The function of NLRP7 inflammasome has also been reported to depend on the master regulatory transcription factor protein that controls cellular inflammation, the NF-kB.
