TMEM41B localizes to the endoplasmic reticulum. It is involved in autophagosome biogenesis and lipid mobilization (PMID: 30126924). TMEM41B has been shown to be essential for mouse embryonic development (PMID: 30352685). Additionally, genome-scale CRISPR knockout screens reveal that TMEM41B is required for infection of flavivirus and coronavirus, including SARS-CoV-2 (PMID: 33052348; 33052332).
