It is expected to be located in endoplasmic reticulum membrane and nucleus envelope. The protein is widely expressed in prostate cancer and several cancer cell lines (at protein level). And expressed at higher levels in endocrine-resistant breast cancer cells as compared to endocrine-sensitive breast cancer cells. It is also expressed at higher levels in early recurrence breast cancer tissues as compared to non-recurrent breast tumors. The calculated molecular weight of TMEM33 is 28 kDa.
