It is involved in various biological processes, including lipid metabolism and ferroptosis regulation. OIT3 has been shown to mediate macrophage polarization and facilitate hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) progression by regulating the arachidonic acid metabolism and reactive oxygen species (ROS) accumulation (PMID: 35353239).
