VARP also known as VPS9-ankyrin-repeat protein is a cytosolic protein with a molecular weight of about 135 kDa. It functions as a guanine nucleotide exchange factor (GEF) specifically for RAB21 a small GTPase involved in endosomal trafficking. VARP is expressed in various tissues with notable presence in the brain and immune cells.
