The protein YL1 also known as Tyrosine-tubulin ligase-like family member 5 (TUBE1) plays an important role in regulating microtubule dynamics. YL1 has a molecular mass of approximately 14 kDa. It predominantly expresses in cells with high microtubule activity such as neural tissues and dividing cells. The protein actively binds to tubulin which is an essential component of the microtubule network within the cell.
