HDAC1 HDAC4 and HDAC6 are histone deacetylases enzymes involved in removing acetyl groups from lysine residues on histone proteins. This activity influences chromatin structure and gene expression by transcription repression. HDAC1 also known as RPD3L1 has a molecular weight of approximately 55 kDa whereas HDAC4 and HDAC6 are larger around 110 kDa and 131 kDa respectively.
