ISY1 also known as Pre-mRNA-splicing factor ISY1 homolog is a component of the spliceosome machinery. It has a mass of approximately 30 kDa. This protein is expressed in various tissues including the heart brain and liver. Mechanically ISY1 participates as a splicing factor which facilitates the removal of introns from pre-mRNA. It's involved in the transition between spliceosomal complexes essential for precise and accurate splicing of mRNA.
Biological function summary
ISY1 plays a significant role in RNA splicing a process required for mRNA maturation. It is part of the spliceosome complex specifically interacting in the late stages of spliceosome activation.
