The QKI protein also known as Quaking is an RNA-binding protein belonging to the STAR (Signal Transduction and Activation of RNA) family. It plays an important role in RNA metabolism including the regulation of alternative splicing RNA stability and translation. QKI with a molecular mass of approximately 38 kDa is widely expressed in mammals especially in the central nervous system and the heart.
