Supplementary Information:

CPSF2 also known as CPSF100 functions as a component of the cleavage and polyadenylation specificity factor complex. This complex plays a critical role in RNA processing by cleaving the 3' end of pre-mRNA and adding a poly(A) tail. CPSF2 has a molecular mass of approximately 77 kilodaltons and is ubiquitously expressed in human tissues with higher expression in cells with active transcription such as liver and testis.
Biological function summary
The function of CPSF2 involves the coordination of mRNA maturation events necessary for proper gene expression. CPSF2 as part of the CPSF complex associates with other key proteins including CPSF73 CPSF1 and cleavage factors like CFIm and CFIIm. These interactions ensure the correct cleavage and polyadenylation of pre-mRNA which is essential for mRNA stability and translation efficiency.
Pathways
CPSF2 contributes significantly to mRNA processing pathways particularly the cleavage and polyadenylation pathway. This pathway is important for the regulation of gene expression and accessory to RNA polymerase II-mediated transcription termination. CPSF2 collaborates with proteins like CPSF73 and Fip1 in these pathways and disruption in their interactions can affect global mRNA processing.
CPSF2's involvement becomes evident in particular cancers and neurodegenerative disorders. Alterations in mRNA processing due to mutations or dysregulation of CPSF2 are linked to some cancer types such as breast cancer. Additionally aberrant mRNA processing observed in neurodegenerative disorders like Alzheimer's disease involves interactions with proteins including Tau and APP hinting at CPSF2's potential role in these pathological processes.
