TDP1 also known as tyrosyl-DNA phosphodiesterase 1 is an important enzyme in DNA repair. Its molecular mass is approximately 68 kDa. TDP1 breaks phosphodiester bonds between DNA and tyrosine residues on trapped topoisomerase I resolving Top1-DNA complexes. This enzyme locates itself mainly in the nucleus of cells due to its role in dealing with DNA-related injuries. TDP1 ALDH1A1 and ROR gamma show widespread expression found in various tissues but most notably in neurons and hepatic tissues.
