Oxysterol-binding protein 1 (OSBP1) also known as OSBP is a protein with a molecular mass of approximately 97 kilodaltons. It functions as an intracellular lipid transporter that binds oxysterols which are oxygenated derivatives of cholesterol. OSBP1 is involved in lipid exchange between the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) and the Golgi apparatus. It is expressed in various tissues with high levels observed in the liver brain and adipose tissue. OSBP1 facilitates the transport of sterols and phosphatidylinositol 4-phosphate (PI4P) influencing lipid metabolism and membrane formation.
