Rubicon also known as Baron is a protein that functions mechanically to regulate autophagy and endosomal maturation. It has a molecular weight of approximately 70 kDa. You can find Rubicon expressed in various tissues but it is especially abundant in the liver spleen and pancreas. The protein acts by interacting with key autophagic and endocytic machinery including Rab7 and UVRAG which modulate vesicular trafficking processes vital for cellular homeostasis.
