UBA5 also known as Ubiquitin-like modifier-activating enzyme 5 is an E1 enzyme that plays a mechanical role in activating ubiquitin-fold modifier 1 (UFM1) for protein modification. It has a molecular mass of about 44 kDa and performs its function in the nucleus and cytoplasm within human cells.
