MRPS35 also known as 28S ribosomal protein S35 or mitochondrial ribosomal protein S35 is a component of the small subunit of the mitochondrial ribosome. This protein is integral to mitochondrial protein synthesis and weighs approximately 39 kDa. It is expressed widely in human tissues but shows higher expression in tissues with high energy demand like skeletal muscle and heart. MRPS35 plays a mechanical role in facilitating the translation of mitochondrial mRNA to proteins necessary for mitochondrial function.

MRPS35 is essential in mitochondrial ribosome assembly and protein synthesis. As part of the mitochondrial ribosomal small subunit it contributes to the assembly of ribosomes and the translation of essential proteins for mitochondrial energy production.
