Streptavidin Gold Conjugate (40 nm, 10OD) (ab186864) is a unique coated 40 nm nanoparticle that has an avidly bound protective surface coat which can withstand the most extreme conditions (e.g. 2.5M NaOH at 70°C for > 1 hour).
Our Gold streptavidin conjugates share the stability attributes of the core nanoparticle. Furthermore, since the streptavidin is covalently bound to the surface coating of the gold nanoparticle it is unable to desorb, which is a major problem faced by competing products whereby the streptavidin is directly attached to the metal. Our Gold Streptavidin binds with high affinity to biotinylated molecules.
A common application for Streptavidin Gold is to be used as a detector in Lateral Flow Assays (LFAs).
This product is manufactured by Expedeon, an Abcam company. It was previously called 40nm InnovaCoat® GOLD (10OD) Streptavidin Conjugate. Expedeon product code 250-0200 is the same as the 200 µL size of this product and code 250-1000 is the same as the 1 mL size.
