ASB2 also known as ankyrin repeat and SOCS box-containing protein 2 plays a role mechanically as part of the E3 ubiquitin ligase complex. It facilitates the tagging of proteins for degradation via the ubiquitin-proteasome system. ASB2 has a molecular mass of approximately 57 kDa and exhibits robust expression in hematopoietic cells particularly within the bone marrow.
Biological function summary
ASB2 modulates cellular differentiation and it is often associated with lineage determination in hematopoietic cells. As a component of the ubiquitin ligase complex it performs a critical role in regulating protein stability by promoting ubiquitination.
