REACH authorisation
Abcam has not and does not intend to apply for the REACH Authorisation of customers' uses of products that contain European Authorisation list (Annex XIV) substances.
It is the responsibility of our customers to check the necessity of application of REACH Authorisation, and any other relevant authorisations, for their intended uses.
Lysate preparation:
Our lysates are made using RIPA buffer to which we add a protease inhibitor cocktail and phosphatase inhibitor cocktail (ratio: 300:100:10).
This means that the protein of interest is denatured.
If you require a native form of the protein please use the live cell version. Please refer to our lysis protocol for further details on how our lysates are prepared.
User storage instructions:
Lyophilizate may be stored at 4°C. After reconstitution, store at -20°C for short-term storage or -80°C for long-term storage.
This product is subject to limited use licenses from The Broad Institute, ERS Genomics Limited and Sigma-Aldrich Co. LLC, and is developed with patented technology. For full details of the licenses and patents please refer to our

LGN also known as GPSM2 (G-protein signaling modulator 2) is a protein involved in cellular processes related to signaling and cell polarity. It has a molecular mass of approximately 80 kDa. LGN is expressed in various tissues including the central nervous system where it plays a role in neural cell functions. This protein acts mechanically by interacting with G-proteins and aiding in proper signal transduction.
Biological function summary
The protein LGN influences cell division by regulating spindle orientation which is essential for accurate cell fate determination. LGN is a part of a complex with the proteins NuMA (nuclear mitotic apparatus protein) and dynein-dynactin which assists in the positioning of the mitotic spindle during cellular division. This activity ensures that cells divide correctly maintaining tissue organization and function.
Pathways
LGN is important in asymmetric cell division and cellular signaling. It is involved in the Wnt signaling pathway which is known for its role in cell growth and development. Additionally LGN interacts with G-proteins modulating their activity to facilitate proper signal transduction within these pathways. The influences on these pathways highlight the protein's necessity in maintaining cellular organization and signaling fidelity.
LGN is linked to certain neurodevelopmental disorders such as microcephaly where patients exhibit reduced brain size due to abnormal cell division. It also connects to certain types of cancer through its role in maintaining correct spindle orientation and polarity which is important for preventing uncontrolled cell proliferation. LGN's interaction with proteins like NuMA and G-proteins remains a focal point in understanding its impact on these conditions.
