REACH authorisation
Abcam has not and does not intend to apply for the REACH Authorisation of customers' uses of products that contain European Authorisation list (Annex XIV) substances.
It is the responsibility of our customers to check the necessity of application of REACH Authorisation, and any other relevant authorisations, for their intended uses.
Lysate preparation:
Our lysates are made using RIPA buffer to which we add a protease inhibitor cocktail and phosphatase inhibitor cocktail (ratio: 300:100:10).
This means that the protein of interest is denatured.
If you require a native form of the protein please use the live cell version. Please refer to our lysis protocol for further details on how our lysates are prepared.
User storage instructions:
Lyophilizate may be stored at 4°C. After reconstitution, store at -20°C for short-term storage or -80°C for long-term storage.
This product is subject to limited use licenses from The Broad Institute, ERS Genomics Limited and Sigma-Aldrich Co. LLC, and is developed with patented technology. For full details of the licenses and patents please refer to our

SPAG7 also known as Sperm Associated Antigen 7 is a protein with an approximate mass of 26 kilodaltons. It is mainly expressed in the testis with additional expression noted in other tissues at lower levels. Mechanically SPAG7 functions in the regulation of cellular processes associated with spermatogenesis playing a role in the assembly and reorganization of microtubule structures.
Biological function summary
SPAG7 enhances the development and function of sperm cells contributing significantly to male fertility. The protein participates in microtubule-related activities and likely interacts with other proteins to perform its roles effectively. Research suggests that SPAG7 does not form a complex on its own but it closely associates with other cellular components in sperm maturation.
Pathways
SPAG7 interacts with regulatory networks involved in cilia and flagella movement contributing to the sperm's motility. SPAG7 shows a relationship with proteins like dynein and kinesin which are important in microtubule dynamics and cellular transport processes. It plays a part in pathways such as the spermatogenesis pathway where it ensures proper function and motility of sperm cells through its interactions with other proteins.
SPAG7 has associations with male infertility which is often linked to defective spermatogenesis and sperm motility issues. Abnormal SPAG7 expression may disrupt cellular transport processes causing infertility. Although not directly implicated in diseases like cancer alterations in SPAG7 levels could potentially influence cancer-associated proteins through indirect pathways reflecting complex biological interactions.
