REACH authorisation
Abcam has not and does not intend to apply for the REACH Authorisation of customers' uses of products that contain European Authorisation list (Annex XIV) substances.
It is the responsibility of our customers to check the necessity of application of REACH Authorisation, and any other relevant authorisations, for their intended uses.
Lysate preparation:
Our lysates are made using RIPA buffer to which we add a protease inhibitor cocktail and phosphatase inhibitor cocktail (ratio: 300:100:10).
This means that the protein of interest is denatured.
If you require a native form of the protein please use the live cell version. Please refer to our lysis protocol for further details on how our lysates are prepared.
User storage instructions:
Lyophilizate may be stored at 4°C. After reconstitution, store at -20°C for short-term storage or -80°C for long-term storage.
This product is subject to limited use licenses from The Broad Institute, ERS Genomics Limited and Sigma-Aldrich Co. LLC, and is developed with patented technology. For full details of the licenses and patents please refer to our

PCNP also called PEST-containing nuclear protein consists of around 178 amino acids and has a mass of approximately 21 kDa. PCNP localizes mainly in the nucleus of cells and shows expression in various tissues including the testis and skeletal muscle. The presence of PEST sequences suggests the target may experience rapid degradation which is typical for proteins that regulate essential cellular processes.
Biological function summary
This protein participates in cell cycle regulation and ubiquitination pathways suggesting its role in protein turnover within cells. PCNP often interacts with other proteins as part of larger complexes to influence proteolysis and cell cycle progression. The interaction with molecules containing ubiquitin-like domains indicates its involvement in tagging specific proteins for degradation helping maintain cellular homeostasis.
Pathways
PCNP connects strongly to the ubiquitin-proteasome pathway and the regulation of transcription. Its interactions with proteins such as RNF115 indicate its role in protein ubiquitination a fundamental process for maintaining cell integrity and function. Another relevant link is to cyclin-dependent kinases suggesting a contribution to cell cycle checkpoints and transitions essential for controlled cell division and proliferation.
PCNP's role highlights its potential involvement in oncogenesis and neurodegenerative disorders. Aberrant expression or regulation can connect PCNP to cancer progression by influencing the degradation of cell cycle regulators. Additionally defects in ubiquitination processes can tie this protein to conditions such as Alzheimer's disease where misfolded proteins accumulate. Interaction with proteins like beta-amyloid precursor protein suggests a possible link to neurodegenerative pathways impacting both disease development and progression.
