REACH authorisation
Abcam has not and does not intend to apply for the REACH Authorisation of customers' uses of products that contain European Authorisation list (Annex XIV) substances.
It is the responsibility of our customers to check the necessity of application of REACH Authorisation, and any other relevant authorisations, for their intended uses.
Lysate preparation:
Our lysates are made using RIPA buffer to which we add a protease inhibitor cocktail and phosphatase inhibitor cocktail (ratio: 300:100:10).
This means that the protein of interest is denatured.
If you require a native form of the protein please use the live cell version. Please refer to our lysis protocol for further details on how our lysates are prepared.
User storage instructions:
Lyophilizate may be stored at 4°C. After reconstitution, store at -20°C for short-term storage or -80°C for long-term storage.
This product is subject to limited use licenses from The Broad Institute, ERS Genomics Limited and Sigma-Aldrich Co. LLC, and is developed with patented technology. For full details of the licenses and patents please refer to our

SAPS1 also known as Protein Phosphatase-6 Regulatory Subunit 1 (PP6R1) plays an important role in cellular processes as a regulatory subunit of protein phosphatase 6 (PP6). It operates by modulating the phosphatase activity. The protein SAPS1 consists of approximately 100 kDa in mass. It is expressed widely in human tissues showing higher concentrations in immune tissues such as the spleen and thymus.
Biological function summary
SAPS1 interacts with the PP6 catalytic subunit forming the PP6 complex which is involved in cell cycle regulation and DNA repair. This complex regulates various cellular functions by dephosphorylation of specific target proteins. SAPS1 ensures proper DNA repair mechanisms and checkpoint controls during cell division essential for maintaining genomic stability. This role positions SAPS1 as a pivotal player in the cellular stress response.
Pathways
SAPS1 influences important signaling pathways including the NF-kB signaling and SAPK/JNK pathways. In these pathways SAPS1 helps regulate inflammatory responses and stress-activated protein kinases through its interaction with the PP6 complex. It relates closely to proteins like IkB as part of NF-kB signaling where SAPS1 through PP6 dephosphorylates components involved in the pathway to modulate its activity.
SAPS1 holds significant relevance to conditions such as cancer and autoimmune diseases. Aberrations in its regulation and function can lead to uncontrolled cell growth due to compromised DNA repair contributing to cancer development. Additionally disruptions in NF-kB signaling affect immune responses linking SAPS1 to autoimmune disorders. SAPS1 interacts with proteins such as IkB in these contexts showing how its altered activity could contribute to the progression of these diseases.
