REACH authorisation
Abcam has not and does not intend to apply for the REACH Authorisation of customers' uses of products that contain European Authorisation list (Annex XIV) substances.
It is the responsibility of our customers to check the necessity of application of REACH Authorisation, and any other relevant authorisations, for their intended uses.
Lysate preparation:
Our lysates are made using RIPA buffer to which we add a protease inhibitor cocktail and phosphatase inhibitor cocktail (ratio: 300:100:10).
This means that the protein of interest is denatured.
If you require a native form of the protein please use the live cell version. Please refer to our lysis protocol for further details on how our lysates are prepared.
User storage instructions:
Lyophilizate may be stored at 4°C. After reconstitution, store at -20°C for short-term storage or -80°C for long-term storage.
This product is subject to limited use licenses from The Broad Institute, ERS Genomics Limited and Sigma-Aldrich Co. LLC, and is developed with patented technology. For full details of the licenses and patents please refer to our

TAF11 also known as Transcription Initiation Factor TFIID Subunit 11 is a component of the transcription factor TFIID complex which is essential for RNA polymerase II-mediated transcription initiation. This protein has a molecular mass of approximately 21 kDa. TAF11 is expressed in various tissues with a strong expression in the liver and to a lesser extent in the heart and skeletal muscle indicating its widespread role in gene regulation across different organs.
Biological function summary
TAF11 functions as a core component of the TFIID complex which consists of the TATA-binding protein (TBP) and multiple TBP-associated factors (TAFs). The complex plays an important role in the regulation of gene expression by assisting in the formation of the transcription preinitiation complex at gene promoters. By interacting with other subunits within the TFIID complex TAF11 helps in the precise transcription of genes supporting cellular processes.
Pathways
TAF11 plays a central role in the transcription regulation pathway and is also involved in the RNA polymerase II transcription initiation pathway. It interacts with multiple factors in these pathways including TAF6 and TAF9 which are other TAF proteins that collaborate in stabilizing the transcription preinitiation complex. These interactions support its involvement in the regulation of both basal and activated transcription influencing gene expression patterns.
Some studies suggest TAF11 association with cancer and developmental disorders. Alterations in the transcription regulation pathway where TAF11 is a component may contribute to oncogenesis making it an area of interest for cancer research. Additionally dysregulation of associated proteins like TAF13 could influence developmental processes linking TAF11 to potential developmental disorders though the precise mechanisms remain to be fully understood.
