Lysate preparation:
Our lysates are made using RIPA buffer to which we add a protease inhibitor cocktail and phosphatase inhibitor cocktail (ratio: 300:100:10).
This means that the protein of interest is denatured.

SELH also known as Selenoprotein H is a selenocysteine-containing protein with a molecular mass of approximately 15 kDa. It functions in redox regulation and protection against oxidative stress by facilitating antioxidant defense mechanisms. SELH is mainly expressed in the brain and to a lesser extent in other tissues. It belongs to the selenoprotein family which includes proteins containing the rare amino acid selenocysteine responsible for its unique enzymatic capabilities.
Biological function summary
Selenoprotein H contributes to protecting cells from oxidative damage. It plays a role in regenerating antioxidant molecules and maintaining cellular redox balance. SELH is not known to be part of a larger protein complex but works in concert with other antioxidant molecules to enhance cellular resistance to oxidative stress.
