TBRG4 also known as FAM195A or BRG1-Associated Factor-53A is a protein with a molecular mass of approximately 144 kDa. It participates in the regulation of cellular homeostasis and function by interacting with other proteins in the cell. Expression of TBRG4 is not limited to a specific tissue as it can be detected in multiple tissues across the body including brain and immune cells. Due to its versatile expression TBRG4 likely takes part in general cellular mechanisms across different cell types.
Biological function summary
TBRG4 influences several cellular processes through its involvement in protein interactions. It is an integral part of large molecular complexes that regulate various gene expression and remodeling of chromatin. TBRG4 often functions in concert with other components to ensure accurate modulation of transcriptional activity. Abnormal expression or malfunction of TBRG4 may contribute to the progression of certain cancers reflecting its interaction with proteins like p53 in tumor suppression pathways. In neurodegenerative conditions alterations in TBRG4-related pathways might exacerbate pathological features particularly through dysregulated signaling mechanisms involving proteins such as Tau.
