REACH authorisation
Abcam has not and does not intend to apply for the REACH Authorisation of customers' uses of products that contain European Authorisation list (Annex XIV) substances.
It is the responsibility of our customers to check the necessity of application of REACH Authorisation, and any other relevant authorisations, for their intended uses.
Lysate preparation:
Our lysates are made using RIPA buffer to which we add a protease inhibitor cocktail and phosphatase inhibitor cocktail (ratio: 300:100:10).
This means that the protein of interest is denatured.
If you require a native form of the protein please use the live cell version. Please refer to our lysis protocol for further details on how our lysates are prepared.
User storage instructions:
Lyophilizate may be stored at 4°C. After reconstitution, store at -20°C for short-term storage or -80°C for long-term storage.
This product is subject to limited use licenses from The Broad Institute, ERS Genomics Limited and Sigma-Aldrich Co. LLC, and is developed with patented technology. For full details of the licenses and patents please refer to our

THAP7 also known as THAP domain-containing protein 7 functions mechanically as a transcriptional repressor. It is a part of the THAP domain protein family which has a conserved zinc finger DNA-binding domain. THAP7 has a molecular mass of approximately 66 kDa. It is expressed in several tissues with notable presence in the heart and testis. The presence of THAP7 in various tissues suggests it may have diverse roles in cellular processes.
Biological function summary
The actions of THAP7 involve regulating gene expression and cell cycle control. It interacts with other proteins to form transcriptional repressor complexes impacting gene silencing. These activities play roles in cell proliferation and differentiation. THAP7's involvement in these fundamental processes indicates its importance in maintaining cellular homeostasis.
Pathways
THAP7 participates in cell cycle regulation and transcription pathways. It has associations with the retinoblastoma pathway collaborating with proteins like E2F transcription factors to influence cell cycle progression. These interactions show that THAP7 contributes to the control of cellular division and proliferation impacting the transition through cell cycle phases.
THAP7 has links to cancer and cardiovascular diseases. Dysregulation of THAP7 expression or function may disrupt normal cell cycle control potentially leading to tumorigenesis. In cardiovascular diseases its expression in cardiac tissues associates with proteins involved in heart function. Understanding THAP7's roles could provide insights into therapeutic targets for these diseases.
