K24 also known as Keratin 24 is a type I acidic keratin protein. It has a molecular mass of about 52 kDa. This keratin is mainly expressed in epithelial tissues especially in skin and oral epithelium. It contributes to the cytoskeletal structure providing mechanical resilience to cells. K24 exists as intermediate filaments which are essential structural components in epithelial cells.
Biological function summary
