Conjugation ready
Our carrier-free antibodies are typically supplied in a PBS-only formulation, purified and free of BSA, sodium azide and glycerol. This conjugation-ready format is designed for use with fluorochromes, metal isotopes, oligonucleotides, and enzymes, which makes them ideal for antibody labelling, functional and cell-based assays, flow-based assays (e.g. mass cytometry) and Multiplex Imaging applications.
Use our
conjugation kits
for antibody conjugates that are ready-to-use in as little as 20 minutes with 1 minute hands-on-time and 100% antibody recovery: available for fluorescent dyes, HRP, biotin and gold.
Sandwich ELISA
The recommended antibody orientation is based on internal optimization for ELISA-based assays. Antibody orientation is assay dependent and needs to be optimized for each assay type. Please note that the range provided for this antibody is only an estimation based on the performance of the product using the recommended antibody pair. Performance of the antibody pair will depend on the specific characteristics of your assay. We guarantee the product works in sandwich ELISA, but we do not guarantee the sensitivity or dynamic range of the antibody in your assay.

Indoleamine 23-dioxygenase 2 (IDO-2) is an enzyme involved in tryptophan catabolism. IDO-2 is also known as INDOL1 or INDOLE-2. This enzyme differs from its counterpart IDO1 in its substrate specificity and tissue distribution. IDO-2 has a molecular mass of approximately 45 kDa. It is expressed in various tissues including liver kidney and placenta with notably higher expression in immune system cells like dendritic cells and macrophages.
Biological function summary
IDO-2 participates in the degradation of the essential amino acid tryptophan via the kynurenine pathway. This process helps modulate immune responses by reducing tryptophan availability and producing metabolites that affect T-cell function. IDO-2 is not known to be part of a larger protein complex but it does work in parallel with IDO1 to contribute to immune tolerance and homeostasis within the body.
Pathways
The kynurenine pathway prominently involves IDO-2 where it aids in the conversion of tryptophan to kynurenine influencing pathways related to immune regulation. IDO-2 interacts closely with enzymes such as tryptophan 23-dioxygenase (TDO) sharing roles in tryptophan metabolism. Both IDO2 and IDO1 can lead to the production of kynurenine highlighting their shared influence within this metabolic pathway.
The activity of IDO-2 plays a role in conditions like cancer and autoimmune diseases. In cancer its ability to suppress immune attack on tumors by depleting tryptophan and generating immunosuppressive metabolites allows tumor cells to escape immune surveillance. In autoimmune disorders like systemic lupus erythematosus altered tryptophan metabolism through IDO-2 involvement can affect disease progression. IDO-2 works alongside IDO1 within these pathological contexts influencing disease outcomes due to their shared enzymatic roles in immune modulation.
