Product details:
This product is manufactured by BioVision, an Abcam company and was previously called 9207 TurboNuclease, Recombinant. 9207-50KU is the same size as the 50000 unit size of ab286000.
ab286000 is a recombinant form of Serratia macescens extracellular endonuclease (encoded by the same gene of Benzonase) produced in E. coli using a proprietary process. This nonspecific endonuclease hydrolyzes both single- and double-stranded nucleic acids (DNA and RNA) to 5'-phosphorylated oligonucleotides of 1-4 bases in length. It is a highly purified homodimer that has exceptional high specific activity and is free of protease activity; ideal to digest nucleic acids and to reduce viscosity during protein purification and sample preparation.
Centrifuge the vial prior to opening.
< 0.25 EU/1,000 units as determined by the LAL Gel-Clot Assay

Supplementary Information:
This supplementary information is collated from multiple sources and compiled automatically.
Non-specific extracellular endonuclease also called non-recombinant endonuclease functions by cleaving phosphodiester bonds within nucleic acids outside the cell. This action requires no specific DNA or RNA sequence hence the name "non-specific." It has a molecular mass of approximately 35 kDa. Non-specific extracellular endonuclease is found in various organisms including bacteria and plants and is particularly expressed in extracellular environments where it contributes to nucleotide metabolism.
Biological function summary
Non-specific extracellular endonuclease has significant roles in degrading extracellular nucleic acids for nutrient recycling and defense against pathogens. It is not a part of a known complex but interacts with various environmental nucleic acid substrates. By breaking down nucleic acids it helps manage nucleic acid levels and prevents potential damage or infection from extracellular genetic material.
Pathways
Non-specific extracellular endonuclease plays a role in nucleotide salvage pathways and plant defense mechanisms. In the nucleotide salvage pathways it assists in breaking down DNA and RNA into nucleotides allowing the cell to reuse these components. It is related to other proteins like DNAse I in nucleotide catabolism contributing to the recycling and regulation of nucleotides within the organism.
Non-specific extracellular endonuclease has been connected to autoimmune conditions and bacterial infections. The enzyme can help reduce the likelihood of an autoimmune response by clearing extracellular DNA which might otherwise trigger such responses. In bacterial infections this enzyme interacts with bacterial DNA disrupting the pathogen's ability to proliferate or invade further. Its activity is complemented by proteins like myeloperoxidase in immune responses where both contribute to the destruction and neutralization of pathogens.
