Conjugation ready
Our carrier-free antibodies are typically supplied in a PBS-only formulation, purified and free of BSA, sodium azide and glycerol. This conjugation-ready format is designed for use with fluorochromes, metal isotopes, oligonucleotides, and enzymes, which makes them ideal for antibody labelling, functional and cell-based assays, flow-based assays (e.g. mass cytometry) and Multiplex Imaging applications.
Use our
conjugation kits
for antibody conjugates that are ready-to-use in as little as 20 minutes with 1 minute hands-on-time and 100% antibody recovery: available for fluorescent dyes, HRP, biotin and gold.
Compatibility
This product is compatible with the Maxpar
Antibody Labeling Kit from Fluidigm, without the need for antibody preparation. Maxpar
is a trademark of Fluidigm Canada Inc.

The oxytocin receptor (OTR) also known as OXTR is a G-protein-coupled receptor that primarily binds the neuropeptide hormone oxytocin. It has a molecular mass of approximately 43 kDa. This receptor is expressed in diverse tissues including the brain uterus mammary glands and heart. It plays a significant role in signal transduction processes converting extracellular hormonal signals into specific intracellular effects that facilitate various physiological functions.
Biological function summary
The oxytocin receptor exhibits involvement in many reproductive and social behaviors. Despite not functioning as part of a larger complex OTR activation facilitates processes such as uterine contraction milk ejection and social bonding. Activation of this receptor influences neuronal circuits in the brain supporting behaviors linked to emotion and social memory which are fundamental to maternal behaviors and pair bonding.
Pathways
The oxytocin receptor participates in critical signaling cascades including the phosphatidylinositol-calcium second messenger system. Through this pathway the receptor activates protein kinase C and increases intracellular calcium levels. This pathway often involves interaction with other proteins such as vasopressin receptors which have overlapping functions in fluid balance and cardiovascular regulation.
The oxytocin receptor has associations with conditions like autism spectrum disorder and postpartum depression. These disorders suggest that altered oxytocin receptor signaling may contribute to atypical social behavior and mood regulation. Additionally the receptor's interaction with proteins like the vasopressin receptor influences susceptibility to these neuropsychiatric conditions highlighting its role in neurological health.
