CCL14 also known as HCC-1 or HCC-3 is a small cytokine belonging to the CC chemokine family. It has a molecular weight of approximately 8 kDa. The protein is found in a variety of tissues where it is secreted by immune cells fibroblasts and endothelial cells. CCL14 interacts with chemokine receptors to mediate cell signaling and can be detected at the interface of inflammatory responses. Its expression can be modulated during different immune responses.
Biological function summary
The CCL14 protein acts as a chemoattractant for specific types of white blood cells including monocytes and lymphocytes which are critical in mounting immune responses.
