MAGEA2 also known as Melanoma-associated antigen A2 is a member of the MAGE gene family located on the X chromosome. This protein has a mass of approximately 35 kDa. MAGEA2 expresses in a wide range of cancers and is usually absent in normal tissues except in the testis and placenta. This makes it a significant target for cancer research particularly in developing cancer vaccines and immunotherapies.
