Orexin Receptor 1 and 2 also known as hypocretin receptor 1 and 2 are G-protein-coupled receptors that bind to neuropeptides orexin-A and orexin-B. Orexin Receptor 1 has a molecular mass of approximately 50-60 kDa while Orexin Receptor 2 is similar in size. These receptors are mainly expressed in the brain particularly in the hypothalamus and other regions regulating wakefulness and sleep.
