Product Description

The bacterial toxin aerolysin has the remarkable ability to bind selectively and with high affinity to the glycophosphatidylinositol (GPI) anchors of cell surface proteins, causing lysis of normal but not GPI-deficient cells. FLAER is a fluorescently-labeled, inactive variant of aerolysin that does not cause lysis of cells. The reagent binds selectively to cell surface GPI-anchored proteins, but will not bind to cells that are missing GPI-anchors, such as cells with deficiency in any of the phosphatidylinositol glycan complementation groups (PIG) genes.
25tests
Source: E. coli
Formulation: Phosphate-buffered Solution, pH 7.2, containing 0.09% sodium azide and BSA
Preparation: Recombinant proaerolysin was conjugated with Spark Blue™ 488 under optimal conditions.
Concentration: Lot-specific (to obtain lot-specific concentration and expiration, please enter the lot number in our Certificate of Analysis online tool.)
Storage & Handling: The Spark Blue™ 488 FLAER solution should be stored undiluted between 2°C and 8°C, and protected from prolonged exposure to light. Do not freeze.
Application: FC - Quality tested
Recommended Usage: Each lot of this protein is quality control tested by immunofluorescent staining with flow cytometric analysis. For flow cytometric staining, the suggested use of this reagent is 5 µL per million cells in 100 µL staining volume or 5 µL per 100 µL of whole blood. It is recommended that the reagent be titrated for optimal performance for each application.

Structure: After binding to GPI-anchored proteins in target membranes and proteolytic removal of the C-terminal propeptide, the protein assembles into a heptameric pre-pore complex.
Distribution: Microbial toxin from Aeromonas hydrophila, host cell membrane
Function: Microbial toxin from Aeromonas hydrophila
Interaction: Plasma membrane, GPI anchor
Cell Type: Hematopoietic stem and progenitors
Biology Area: Immunology
