CA125 is believed to provide a protective, lubricating barrier against particles and infectious agents at mucosal surfaces. It binds to MSLN, which mediates heterotypic cell adhesion. This may contribute to the metastasis of ovarian cancer to the peritoneum by initiating cell attachment to the mesothelial epithelium through its binding to MSLN.

Recommended Usage: Each lot of this antibody is quality control tested by Western blotting. For Western blotting, the suggested use of this reagent is 0.5 - 2.5 µg per ml. For immunohistochemistry, a concentration range of 0.5 - 5 µg per ml is suggested. It is recommended that the reagent be titrated for optimal performance for each application.
Application Notes: The observed molecular weight of this target is ~500 kD, which is considerably different than the predicted MW of 1519 kD. Similar observed molecular weights were confirmed using control antibodies from other vendors and have been reported by other vendors.
