Storage
Recombinant human IL-23 is supplied as lyophilized material that is very stable at -20ºC. It is recommended to reconstitute with sterile water at a concentration of 0.1 mg/mL which can be further diluted in aqueous solutions as needed. Addition of a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA) is recommended for long-term storage. Once in solution, store at 4ºC and use within 1 month, or store at -20ºC to -80ºC and use within 3 months to prevent loss of potency. Aliquot to avoid multiple freeze/thaw cycles if storing reconstituted material at -20ºC to -80ºC.

Background
Interleukin-23 (IL-23) is composed of an IL-12B subunit and an IL-23A subunit, making it a heterodimeric cytokine (1). IL-23 is a known inflammatory cytokine and acts as a mediator responsible for Th17 differentiation and its secretion of IL-17 (2). As a member of the IL-12 cytokine family, IL-23 is known to be involved in autoimmune disorders, including psoriasis and arthritis, as well as several gastric-related autoimmune disorders (3). It has also been shown to induce IFN-γ production and NK cell activation and is a dominant cytokine involved in controlling inflammation in peripheral tissues and joints (4).
