Background Protein phosphatase magnesium/manganese-dependent 1 gamma (PPM1G) is a metal-dependent protein phosphatase belonging to the PP2C/PPM family of Ser/Thr phosphatases. PPM1G is a ubiquitously expressed enzyme that binds magnesium/manganese cations in its active center (1).
