Supplied in 10 mM sodium HEPES (pH 7.5), 150 mM NaCl, 100 µg/ml BSA and 50% glycerol. Store at -20°C. Do not aliquot the antibody.
Protocol
Available protocols: Western Blotting, Immunoprecipitation
Specificity / Sensitivity
Cav2.2/CACNA1B Antibody recognizes endogenous levels of total Cav2.2/CACNA1B protein.
Species Reactivity: Mouse, Rat
Source / Purification
Polyclonal antibody is produced by immunizing animals with a synthetic peptide corresponding to residues surrounding Ala1938 of mouse Cav2.2/CACNA1B protein. Antibodies are purified by peptide affinity chromotography.
Background
Voltage-sensitive calcium channels (VSCCs) mediate the entry of calcium ions into excitable cells. VSCCs are involved in a variety of calcium-dependent processes, including muscle contraction, hormone or neurotransmitter release, gene expression, cell motility, cell division, and cell death. Calcium channel, voltage-dependent, N type, alpha 1B subunit (CACNA1B), or Cav2.2, is encoded by the gene (1,2). In the brain, Cav2.2 has been implicated in synaptic plasticity (3). Interestingly, altered Cav2.2 may contribute to some neurodegenerative diseases, such as Huntington's disease (4).
