It contains an amino-terminal calponin homology domain and a carboxy-terminal calponin-like module domain required for actin binding (1,2). is a TGF-β inducible gene that is abundantly expressed in visceral and vascular smooth muscle cells, and is often used as an early marker of smooth muscle differentiation (3-5).
