Helios is a member of the Ikaros transcription factor family that suppresses immune system response to pathogens by promoting regulatory T cell (Treg) activity (1). Treg cells are responsible for suppressing excessive immune responses and exhausting tumor-specific effector T (Teff) cell actions (1), inhibiting immune responses to cancer cells (2).
