Product Description
Polyclonal Antibody for studying MBP (Ser295) phosphate. Validated for Western Blotting. Highly specific and rigorously validated in-house, Phospho-Myelin Basic Protein (Ser295) Antibody (CST #45316) is ready to ship. Product Usage Information Western Blotting: 1:1000 Storage Supplied in 10 mM sodium HEPES (pH 7.5), 150 mM NaCl, 100 µg/mL BSA, and 50% glycerol. Store at -20°C. Do not aliquot the antibody. Protocol Available protocols: Western Blotting Specificity / Sensitivity Phospho-Myelin Basic Protein (Ser295) Antibody recognizes endogenous levels of myelin basic protein only when phosphorylated at Ser295, Ser295/Ser297, Ser295/Ser299, or Ser295/Ser297/Ser299. This antibody does not detect phosphorylation at Ser297 or Ser299 in the absence of phosphorylation at Ser295. This antibody also recognizes a non-specific band of unknown origin at 45 kDa. Species Reactivity: Human, Mouse, Rat Source / Purification Polyclonal antibodies are produced by immunizing animals with a synthetic phosphopeptide corresponding to residues surrounding Ser295 of human myelin basic protein. Antibodies are purified by peptide affinity chromatography. Background Myelin basic protein (MBP) is an abundant central nervous system (CNS) myelin membrane protein that plays an important role in nerve myelination. Myelin sheaths are multi-layered membranes derived from oligodendrocytes that increase the conduction velocity of axonal impulses. MBP helps to adhere the cytoplasmic leaflets of adjacent oligodendrocyte membranes to one another. Several splice variants of MBP are expressed in cells and the protein is modified following translation (i.e., phosphorylation, methylation), which suggests additional membrane adhesion functions (1). Alternate Names Golli-MBP; MBP; MGC99675; Myelin A1 protein; Myelin basic protein; Myelin membrane encephalitogenic protein; proline-rich proteoglycan 2 Specification REACTIVITY: H M R SENSITIVITY: Endogenous MW (kDa): 12-18 SOURCE: Rabbit
