The Golgi reassembly-stacking protein 2 (GRASP55, also known as GORASP2) is essential to type III and type IV UPS (2,3). Studies show that mTORC1 phosphorylates GRASP55/GORASP2 and keeps it at the Golgi apparatus under non-stressed conditions. When cells are stressed, mTORC1 is inhibited, leading to dephosphorylation of GRASP55/GORASP2. Dephosphorylated GRASP55/GORASP2 relocates to autophagosomes and multivesicular bodies to promote UPS. In addition, Thr264 on GRASP55/GORASP2 was shown to seemingly play a key role in mTORC1-mediated phosphorylation of the protein (2).
