Background The transcription factor a-Myb, encoded by the gene , is a conserved DNA-binding protein that is critical for both spermatogenesis and mammary gland development (1). Like family members b-Myb and c-Myb, a-Myb contains an N-terminal DNA-binding domain that binds the sequence 5'-YAAC[GT]G-3', a trans-activating domain (TAD), and a C-terminal inhibitory domain (2-4).
