The nuclear GEF activity of ECT2 is essential for lung tumorigenesis. This transformation requires ECT2-mediated rRNA synthesis. In addition, PKCι-dependent phosphorylation of ECT2 is necessary for the oncogenic activity of this protein (1,2).
