Oxidized low-density lipoprotein receptor 1 (OLR1), also known as lectin-like oxidized LDL receptor 1 (LOX1), was cloned and identified as a cell membrane receptor for Ox-LDL in vascular endothelial cells (1). In addition, research studies show that is one of the most overexpressed genes in human polymorphonuclear myeloid-derived suppressor cells (PMN-MDSC) that regulate immune responses in cancer. OLR1/LOX1 is a specific marker of human PMN-MDSC (2). Furthermore, OLR1/LOX1 was shown to be upregulated in esophageal cancer.
