Kinesin superfamily protein 21B (KIF21B) is implicated in several human neurological disorders, including delayed cognitive development and neurodevelopmental disorders associated with brain malformations (1,2). KIF21B has a critical role in the synaptic actin cytoskeleton, underlying the homeostatic scaling of neuronal firing and regulating neuronal dendritic tree branching and spine formation (3,4).
