Protocol Available protocols: Immunohistochemistry (Paraffin) Specificity / Sensitivity Ankyrin-B (F2A9R) Rabbit Monoclonal Antibody recognizes endogenous levels of total ANKB protein. Species Reactivity: Human, Mouse Source / Purification Monoclonal antibody is produced by immunizing animals with a synthetic peptide corresponding to the carboxy terminus of human ANKB protein. Background Ankyrins are scaffolding proteins that recruit diverse membrane proteins, including ion channels and cell adhesion molecules, into specialized subcellular membrane domains. There are three members in the ankyrin gene family: Ankyrin-R ( ), Ankyrin-B ( ), and Ankyrin-G ( ) (1). Ankyrin-B (ANKB), primarily found in the heart and brain, is present in axons where it promotes the assembly of the axon initial segment (AIS) and functions to localize and stabilize cell adhesion molecules and ion channels along the axon (1,2). ANKB has been associated with neurological disorders such as autism spectrum disorder and epilepsy (3). This has been studied in ANK2-deficient mice that show spontaneous seizures and increased mortality (4). Furthermore, loss-of-function variants in the gene are associated with a wide range of cardiac phenotypes, including arrhythmia, conduction abnormalities, and cardiomyopathy (2). Alternate Names ANK-2; ANK2; ANKB; ankyrin 2; ankyrin 2, neuronal; ankyrin B; Ankyrin-2; ankyrin-2, nonerythrocytic; Ankyrin-B; ankyrin, brain; ankyrin, nonerythroid; Brain ankyrin; brank-2; CFAP87; DKFZp686M09125; DKFZp686P0948; FAP87; FLJ38277; LQT4; Non-erythroid ankyrin Specification REACTIVITY: H M SENSITIVITY: Endogenous Source/Isotype: Rabbit IgG
