Product Description
Monoclonal Antibody for studying PMP2. Validated for Western Blotting. Available in 2 sizes. Highly specific and rigorously validated in-house, PMP2 (E9S2A) Rabbit Monoclonal Antibody (CST #67751) is ready to ship. Product Usage Information Western Blotting: 1:1000 Storage Supplied in 10 mM sodium HEPES (pH 7.5), 150 mM NaCl, 100 µg/mL BSA, 50% glycerol, and less than 0.02% sodium azide. Store at -20°C. Do not aliquot the antibody. Protocol Available protocols: Western Blotting Specificity / Sensitivity PMP2 (E9S2A) Rabbit Monoclonal Antibody recognizes endogenous levels of total PMP2 protein. Species Reactivity: Human Source / Purification Monoclonal antibody is produced by immunizing animals with a synthetic peptide corresponding to residues near the amino terminus of human PMP2 protein. Background Myelin sheaths are multi-layered membranes derived from oligodendrocytes that increase the conduction velocity of axonal impulses. Peripheral myelin protein 2 (PMP2) is a small, 14 kDa cytoplasmic myelin protein expressed by Schwann cells in the periphery of vertebrates, as well as astrocytes and oligodendrocytes in humans. A member of the fatty acid binding protein (FABP) family, PMP2 is characterized by its folded β-barrel structure and α-helical cap. This structure allows PMP2 to bind lipid bilayers on two opposing faces, sticking membranes together with even spacing. PMP2 has been suggested to play roles in lipid homeostasis, lipid transport, and the remyelination of peripheral nerves post-injury. Mutations in the gene are associated with Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease Type 1 (CMT1), the most common class of the heterogeneous group of CMT motor and sensory neuropathies. CMT1 is characterized by the loss of myelin and reduction of conduction velocity. Individuals with CMT1 suffer from sensory loss, muscle atrophy, and foot deformity (1-3). Alternate Names CMT1G; FABP8; M-FABP; MP2; Myelin P2 protein; MYP2; P2; peripheral myelin protein 2; PMP2 Specification REACTIVITY: H SENSITIVITY: Endogenous MW (kDa): 15 Source/Isotype: Rabbit IgG
